Pharmacological action

Analgesic-antipyretic. It has analgesic, antipyretic and weak anti-inflammatory action. The mechanism of action is associated with inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, the predominant influence on the thermoregulation center in the hypothalamus, enhances heat transfer.

Why is Tapsin Infantil prescribed?

Pain weak and moderate intensity of different genesis (including headache, migraine, toothache, neuralgia, myalgia, algomenorrhea; pain in trauma, burns). Fever in infectious and inflammatory diseases.

Paracetamol dosage and administration

Oral or rectally adults and adolescents with a body weight over 60 kg is used in a single dose of 500 mg, the multiplicity of admission - up to 4 times / Maximum duration of treatment - 5-7 days.
Maximum dose: single - 1 g, daily - 4 g.
Single dose for oral administration for children aged 6-12 years - 250-500 mg, 1-5 years - 120-250 mg, from 3 months to 1 year - 60-120 mg, up to 3 months - 10 mg / kg. Single dose rectal in children aged 6-12 years - 250-500 mg, 1-5 years - 125-250 mg.
Multiplicity - 4 at intervals of not less than 4 h. The maximum duration of treatment - 3 days.
Maximum dose: 4 single dose per day.

Tapsin Infantil Side Effects

Digestive system: rarely - dyspepsia; long-term use at high doses - hepatotoxic effects, methemoglobinemia, renal dysfunction and liver, hypochromic anemia. Hemopoietic system: rarely - thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis. Allergic reactions: rarely - skin rash, itching, hives.

Contraindications

Chronic active alcoholism, increased sensitivity to paracetamol, marked disturbances of liver function and / or kidney disease, anemia, pregnancy (I term).

Using during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Paracetamol crosses the placental barrier. So far, no observed adverse effects of paracetamol on the fetus in humans.
Paracetamol is excreted in breast milk: the content in milk was 0.04-0.23% of the dose adopted mother.
If necessary, use of paracetamol during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) should carefully weigh the potential benefits of therapy for the mother and the potential risk to the fetus or child.
In experimental studies found no embryotoxic, teratogenic and mutagenic action of paracetamol.

Special Instructions

With caution used in patients with disorders of the liver and kidneys, with benign hyperbilirubinemia, as well as in elderly patients.
With prolonged use of paracetamol is necessary to monitor patterns of peripheral blood and functional state of the liver.
Used for treatment of premenstrual tension syndrome in combination with pamabrom (diuretic, a derivative of xanthine) and mepyramine (Histamine H1-receptors blocker).

With the simultaneous use with inducers of microsomal liver enzymes, means having hepatotoxic effect, increasing the risk of hepatotoxic action of paracetamol.
With the simultaneous use of anticoagulants may be slight to moderate increase in prothrombin time.
With the simultaneous use of anticholinergics may decrease absorption of paracetamol.
With the simultaneous use of oral contraceptives accelerated excretion of paracetamol from the body and may reduce its analgesic action.
With the simultaneous use with urological means reduced their effectiveness.
With the simultaneous use of activated charcoal reduced bioavailability of paracetamol.
When applied simultaneously with diazepam may decrease excretion of diazepam.
There have been reports about the possibility of enhancing mielodepression effect of zidovudine while applying with paracetamol. A case of severe toxic liver injury.

Unique Tomatoes Tops In Disease-Fighting Antioxidants

UNIQUE TOMATOES TOPS IN DISEASE-FIGHTING ANTIOXIDANTS

COLUMBUS. Ohio – Deep red tomatoes get their rich color from lycopene, a disease-fighting antioxidant. A new study, however, suggests that a special variety of orange-colored tomatoes provide a different form of lycopene, one that our bodies may more readily use.

Researchers found that eating spaghetti covered in sauce made from these orange tomatoes, called Tangerine tomatoes, caused a noticeable boost in this form of lycopene in participants' blood.

“While red tomatoes contain far more lycopene than orange tomatoes, most of it is in a form that the body doesn't absorb well,” said Steven Schwartz. the study's lead author and a professor of food science and technology at Ohio State University .

“The people in the study actually consumed less lycopene when they ate sauce made from the orange tomatoes, but they absorbed far more lycopene than they would have if it had come from red tomatoes,” he said. “That's what is so dramatic about it.”

The tomatoes used for this work were developed specifically for the study – these particular varieties aren't readily available in grocery stores. The researchers suggest that interested consumers seek out orange- and gold-colored heirloom tomatoes as an alternative to Tangerine tomatoes, but caution that they haven't tested how much or what kind of lycopene these varieties contain.

Lycopene belongs to a family of antioxidants called the carotenoids, which give certain fruits and vegetables their distinctive colors. Carotenoids are thought to have a number of health benefits, such as reducing the risk of developing cancer, cardiovascular disease and macular degeneration.

“The tomato is a wonderful biosynthetic factory for carotenoids, and scientists are working on ways to enhance the fruit's antioxidant content and composition,” Schwartz continued.

The researchers don't know if tomatoes rich in cis- lycopene would provide greater health benefits to humans, but the study's results suggest that tomatoes can be used to increase both the intake and absorption of the health-beneficial compounds.

Lycopene is a carotenoid that contains a variety of related compounds called isomers. Isomers share the same chemical formula, yet differ in chemical structure. In the case of tomatoes, the different lycopene isomers play a part in determining the color of the fruit.

Several years ago, Schwartz and his colleagues discovered the abundance of several of these isomers, called cis- lycopenes, in human blood. But most of the tomatoes and tomato-based products we currently consume are rich in all-trans­- lycopene.

“We don't know why our bodies seem to transform lycopene into cis- isomers, or if some isomers are more beneficial than others,” Schwartz said.

The researchers don't know if tomatoes rich in cis- lycopene would provide greater health benefits to humans, but the study's results suggest that tomatoes can be used to increase both the intake and absorption of the health-beneficial compounds.

The researchers made spaghetti sauce from two tomato varieties – tangerine tomatoes, which get their name from their orange skin and are high in cis- lycopene, and a tomato variety chosen for its rich beta carotene content.

The tomatoes were grown at an Ohio State-affiliated agricultural research station in northwestern Ohio. Following harvest, both tomato varieties were immediately processed into canned tomato juice and concentrated. Italian seasoning was added for taste.

The 12 adults participating in the study ate two spaghetti test meals – one included sauce made from tangerine tomatoes, while the other featured sauce made from the tomatoes high in beta carotene. The participants were asked to avoid tomato and beta carotene-rich foods for 13 days before eating each test meal.

Researchers drew blood right before each participant ate and again every hour or two up to 10 hours after the meal. They analyzed the blood samples for lycopene and beta carotene content.

Lycopene absorption from the tangerine tomatoes was 2.5 times higher than that absorbed from the beta carotene-rich tomatoes and, Schwartz said, from typical red tomato varieties. Cis- lycopene levels spiked around five hours after eating the tangerine tomato sauce, and at this point during absorption the levels were some 200 times greater than those of trans- lycopene, which were nearly non-existent. While cis- lycopene is by far the most abundant isomer in these tomatoes, they do contain trace amounts of trans- lycopene.

The participants' bodies also readily absorbed beta carotene from the beta carotene-rich tomatoes.

“Right now, only carrots and sweet potatoes are a more readily available, richer source of beta carotene,” Schwartz said. “And this carotenoid is a major source of vitamin A for a large proportion of the world's population. Its deficiency is a serious health problem in many developing countries.

“Our study showed that a tomato can also increase beta carotene levels in the blood,” Schwartz said. While these special tomatoes were grown just for this study, the researchers have pre-commercial lines of both varieties available.

He conducted the study with Ohio State colleagues David Francis. an associate professor of horticulture and crop science; Steven Clinton. an associate professor of hematology and oncology and human nutrition; Nuray Unlu, a former postdoctoral researcher in food science; and Torsten Bohn, a former postdoctoral fellow in food science at Ohio State.

Tapped In: Finding the Brightness in Seasonal Affective Disorder

Christmas time is just around the corner, and for some, this is an early present; a distraction from the bitter cold, early darkness, and sudden urge of laziness that contribute to seasonal affective disorder (SAD). But when the holiday festivities pass, the countdown to spring begins… and for some, this can be a very lengthy wait.

Seasonal affective disorder is a type of depression that sparks with the change in seasons. Although it can be experienced throughout every switch in season, it is most prominent during fall to winter, and that transition has just settled in.

22-year-old Saint Clair College student, Justin Polewski, says he’s suffered with SAD for the past few years, “I’m always grumpy when the weather changes.”

In previous articles, we have learned that the effects of SAD can range between having trouble sleeping, feeling anxious and tired, to experiencing sudden mood changes. Polewski says he has experienced feelings of angst from the change in weather since high school.

Although over-the-counter and prescription medications are easily available to people who are struggling with SAD, it’s not always the healthiest option for the long run.

The Aetherius Society. a website that houses a community of spiritual practice developed by Dr. George King, a master of spirituality who claimed to have been contacted by extraterrestrial life in 1954, believes that all conditions can be treated by spiritual healing – but not all people. The website states, “Some people are more receptive than others to this treatment [spiritual healing], due to a number of factors such as karma and mental outlook.”

So what is the treatment that plays the underlying factor in spiritual healing? “I’m able to see your gift, and I’m activating it because you’re showing up and opening it,” says Iva, a spiritual guider who helps people ignite their highest frequency level of spirituality. Iva, who had experienced SAD in the past, said that her feeling of missing daylight was anything but “hot”.

Despite this, she says that SAD is not so much about the disorder as much as it is being aware that you’re not feeling great because of the darkness and the coldness. “People who can tap into their intuition are able to create and manifest everything,” she said in an interview on spiritual healing. Being plugged into wrong vibes is something that, as human beings, we settle into too frequently, and Iva says that listening to your own needs is what will truly heals you in the long run.

Although hesitant about the idea of spiritual healing, Polewski says that he beats his winter weather blues with trying to make the best of the situation through doing activities that he finds relaxing, like watching sports, going to a bar or hanging out with friends.

Lauren Jahnke, a third-year criminology student at the University of Toronto, says that she has never struggled with seasonal affective disorder, however, says that is a psychological disorder that can be cured through combination treatment. “It really depends on who you are,” says Jahnke, who studies mental health, “It’s about trial and error. Some people need medicine and some people need things like yoga and spiritual practice, everyone is different when it comes to treatment.”

It has been one of life’s mantras, that whatever you put into the world you get back, and practicing the art of mental clarity is something that is an accredited goal that can be more easily achieved than not amongst skeptical individuals. Through a positive mind and healthy environment, Iva believes that no drug will ever make you feel the way your spirit can, “Your spirit is a part of you, and it’s always talking to you. It’s your blueprint; it’s your activism.”
